RO102 – Design and build cardboard robots
Ages: 5-12
Length:8-12 sessions, 1 hour each
Description
This course will introduce students to VEX 1Q, which is based on plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build highly functional robots. This system doesn’t require any prior knowledge of robotics. Students can quickly make their first robot, and the wide variety of additional parts means they can build anything they imagine as they continue learning.
Learning Objectives
- Understand robot behaviour and code robots to perform specific tasks
- Explore different concepts in computer programming and engineering.
- Change the velocity of the robots and configure the smart sensors.
- Decompose problems into smaller subproblems to facilitate the programme development process.
- Compare and refine algorithms for the same task and determine which is the most appropriate.
- Use operator blocks to make the robot move a precise distance.
- Test and debug a prprogrammeo make sure it runs accurately.
- Describe choices made during programme development using comments and presentations.
